Bombay Industrial Relations Act (extended to Gujarat), 1946
(1) The [State] Government shall appoint a person to be the Chief Conciliator. His jurisdiction shall extend [throughout the [State of Maharashtra]]. [ (1A) The State Government may appoint one or more Additional Chief Conciliators for the whole State or for any local area thereof. An Additional Chief Conciliator shall exercise such powers and perform such duties of the Chief Conciliator under the provisions of this Act as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, specify in this behalf. (1B) An Additional Chief Conciliator shall not be subordinate to the Chief Conciliator, except as respects such matters as the State Government may, by general or special order, specify in this behalf.] (2) The [State] Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint any person to be a Conciliator for any industry in a local area specified in the notification. (3) The [State] Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint any person to be a Special Conciliator for such local area or for such industry for such local area or for such industrial dispute or class or disputes as may be specified in the notification.
