Gujarat Tenancy and Agricultural Lands Act, 1948
[ (1) Notwithstanding any agreement, usage of law, it shall not be lawful for any landlord to levy any cess, rate, vero, huk, or tax or service of any description or denomination whatsoever from any tenant in respect of any land held by him as a tenant other than the rent lawfully due in respect of such land. [ (2) Nothing in sub-section (1) shall affect the liability of a tenant to pay any of the cesses under section 10A.]
