Statutory text

When a document produced with the plaint appears to be defaced, torn or in any way damaged, or where its condition or appearance requires special notice, a note of such condition or appearance should be made on the list of documents and should be verified and initialled, if it is found correct, by the officer examining the plaint. In such cases, a copy of such defaced or damaged document or of document which is illegible should be got produced from the plaintiff for use in Court so that the damaged document may not further deteriorate, or difficulties may not be experienced in reading it.
