The following scales of subsistence allowance for Judgment-debtors have been fixed under section 56 of the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 :— Superior Class ... From Rs. 1·50 nP. to Rs. 2·25 nP. per day in the whole of the state of Bombay except Vidarbha and Marathwada. Ordinary Class ... (a) From 75 nP. to Rs. 1·50 nP. per day in Greater Bombay and Cities of Ahmedabad and Poona. (b) From 56 nP. to Rs. 1·12 nP. per day elsewhere in the whole of the State of Bombay except Vidarbha and Marathwada. For the purpose of subsistence allowance under this paragraph, judgment-debtors according to their social status, education and mode of living, shall be divided into the following classes, namely :— (1) The Superior Class, and (2) The Ordinary Class. Vidarbha and Marathwada : The same scales as prevailed prior to 1st November 1956.
