(i) Under section 43 of the Bombay Civil Courts Act, XIV of 1869, in addition to the days therein mentioned those named in the list contained in Appendix G of Volume II of this Manual are sanctioned as holidays in the District and Subordinate Courts. When a holiday on account of a visible eclipse of the sun or the moon is not sanctioned for any District, the Courts in that District may be closed for a day on the occasion of such an eclipse in lieu of any of the holidays sanctioned. (ii) In the case of extraordinary holidays (e.g., Kapila Shashti) which occur only after a series of years, sanction of the High Court shall be obtained before closing the Courts.
