Gujarat Municipalities Act, 1963
In this Chapter, unless the context otherwise requires,- (a) "appointed day" means the day from which a change referred to in any of the clauses (a) to (d) of sub-section (1) of section 266 takes effect; (b) "existing local authority", in relation to any local area, means the municipality or the panchayat; (c) "successor local authority", in relation to any local area, means the municipality or the panchayat; (d) "the panchayat" means a gram * * panchayat established or deemed to be established under the Gujarat Panchayats Act, 1961.
