Gujarat Panchayats Act, 1993
(1) There shall be a District Panchayat Service Selection Committee in each district for selecting candidates for recruitment to such posts of the panchayat service and to advise the panchayats in such matters and to perform such other functions as may be prescribed. (2) A District Panchayat Service Selection Committee shall consist of— (a) one member of the Gujarat Panchayat Service Selection Board to be nominated by the Chairman of that Board, (b) the President of the district panchayat of the district, and (c) such officer of the panchayat service or State service as the State Government may nominate. (3) (a) In Addition to the District Panchayat Service Selection Committee, the State Government may appoint in each district a District Primary Education Staff Selection Committee for the recruitment of primary teachers and such other staff in connection with primary education as may be prescribed. (b) The constitution, powers and duties of such a committee shall be such as may be prescribed.
