It is necessary and desirable that Judge and Magistrates make themselves fully acquainted with their powers and duties for dealing suitably with child and young or adolescent offenders. In the Bombay area of the State of Gujarat, the provisions of the Bombay Children Act, 1948 and the Bombay Borstal Schools Act, 1929, are applicable. In the Saurashtra area, the Saurashtra Children Act (Act No. 29 of 1956) is applicable. In the Kutch area, the Bombay Children Act, 1948, is applicable. In the State of Gujarat, the provisions of the Probation of the Offenders Act, 1958-(Central Act XX of 1958) are applicable.
