Gujarat High Court Criminal Manual (subordinate court practice), 1977
The Borstal Schools Act applies to young offenders who are not less than 16 years of age and not more than 21 years of age and authorises the Judicial Magistrates, First Class and superior Courts to pass, in lieu of imprisonment an order for detention in Borstal School for not less than 3 or more than 5 years (Section-6).
