Gujarat High Court Criminal Manual (subordinate court practice), 1977
Duty of the court does not end with the passing of the order under the Act. Where a supervision order has been passed and a Probation Officer has been appointed, the Court should keep a watch on the probationer and should direct the Probation Officer to submit the report at particular intervals. The court should, in the best interest of the person released on probation, if necessary, under section 8 of the Act, on its own motion or upon the report of the Probation Officer vary any of the conditions in the bond or extend or reduce its duration. The success of the Act depends on the wise exercise of the discretion and proper discharge of their duties by the Courts administring the Act.
