Original documents in the custody of the House of Parliament or of the State Legislatures should not be called for if certified copies thereof would serve the purpose. It is only in case where strict proof of the original document is necessary, the Court should call for the original documents. Section 78 (2) of the Indian Evidence Act indicates the mode in which the proceedings of the Legislature can be proved.
