Punjab Land Revenue Act, 1887
(1) The Financial Commissioner may make rules to regulate the appointment, duties, emoluments, punishment, suspension and removal of Kanungos, Zaildars, inamdars and village-officers. (2) Rules under sub-section (1) may direct that the emoluments of a zaildar, inamdar or village-officer shall be such a percentage payable out of the land-revenue as may be prescribed by the rules, and that, where the land-revenue has been released, compounded for or redeemed, the percentage shall be a charge payable by the person who would be liable for the land-revenue if it had not been released compounded for or redeemed.
